Houston 100 Kitchen Project Gallery

BeforeAfter
Problem:
The kitchen was a small narrow space with no appreciable storage in the undersized island and pantry. The refrigerator took up most of one end with a TV bracket projecting above and to the side. There was only one oven and no configuration within existing cabinets for storage or access.

Solution:
The Island was enlarged to hold storage on both long sides with one drawer stack for spices. A new slim line refrigerator was built in and wrapped with book cases for cook books on one side and cabinets with drawers on the other. The old pantry closet was rebuilt and installed with all pull out shelves for maximum storage. All upper cabinets were increased in height by 6 to 8 inches for additional storage and display and all lower cabinets were changed to drawer stacks or doors with pullout shelves.

A new slimmer, more powerful microwave was relocated to allow for double ovens and an appliance cabinet was added beneath it for storage and use within. Electrical outlet strips were placed underneath upper cabinets leaving an all decorative backsplash and allowing for maximum counter space tasking. Hidden under- and over-cabinet lighting gives strong light for tasks and dims for display and ambiance. The disposer switch was concealed for esthetics and safety. Granite counters provide an impermeable, easy-to-care for work surface. Finally, a pot rack was hung for easy use of all pots and pans, and a new cable was run for a wall mount flat screen TV which projects only 4 inches from the wall.
